Heidi and Richard reached out with a clear vision: to make the most of a compact cottage room without dedicating it full-time to guests. The solution? A bespoke Murphy bed — but not your average fold-down.

Crafted from high-spec European oak veneer, the carcass was stained in durable Rubio Monocoat to bring out the natural grain while offering long-lasting protection. The doors were handcrafted with a simple moulded detail and sprayed in Farrow & Ball ‘Blackened’ using an AC lacquered finish for durability.

Unlike conventional Murphy beds, which often rely on doors as structural support, we incorporated a pocket door system into the design to keep the aesthetic clean and the function effortless. The result? Guests can pull down the bed without using the doors as support, while integrated shelving and a hanging rail offer thoughtful storage.

Now, the space serves beautifully as both a serene day-to-day room and a luxurious guest retreat — all at the pull of a handle.
